FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AFRICA AWARENESS
Aggie for Africa (AFA) raises awareness about issues occurring in Africa and participates in fundraising efforts for non-profits such as Shine on Sierra Leone and Invisible Children.
The non-profit group holds a shoe drive every year and donates them to Cameroon Africa for those who can not afford to buy their own shoes. During the shoe drive the club encourages students to go 2 days without any shoes.
“We go barefoot so they don’t have to,” said Public Relations Chairman Dawnica Lauritzen.
Aggies for Africa also bring in speakers to help raise the awareness of the problems in Africa, such as, John Bul Dau (Lost boy of Sudan).
AFA is a non-profit group based out of Utah State University. It is completely run by USU students from all majors.
